What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) The pilot was attempting his third approach to land in gusty, direct crosswind conditions. Touching down slightly short of mid field, the pilot was unable to correct for the crosswind, lost control and the airplane went off the right side of the runway about mid field. He was able to steer the airplane back to the runway, but again was unable to correct for the crosswind, veered to the right, struck a curb on a culvert and left the runway to the right, striking a palm tree with the right wing.
