From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot privacy data omitted departed the hibbing MN airport at 1510 hours local time and flew to Amery WI. The pilot stated upon landing at the Amery airport, the aircraft hit the runway hard, and he executed a go-around. At the time of the go-around a gust of wind blew the aircraft toward a row of trees on the east edge of the airport, as a result the aircraft was unable to climb to a minimum altitude to miss the trees. The pilot further stated after hitting the trees the aircraft rolled nose down and struck the ground at full engine power. The aircraft was destroyed as a result of this accident, as the entire airplane received severe damage. The injuries were minor in nature, all three occupants were taken to the Amery hospital, and released the same day.
