From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Following a normal approach the aircraft landed on the approach end of runway 27 at the Lewis airport in romeoville, IL (klot). Midway through the landing rollout and after initial brake application, the left brake pedal lost pressure and went to the floor. The pilot attempted to pump the pedal without success. The pilot attempted to control the aircraft direction with full left rudder and right brake application. As the aircraft yawed to the right due to right brake application, the pilot would release the brake allowing the aircraft nose steering to return the aircraft to the runway center. The aircraft departed the end of the runway at a low enough speed to allow the main gear to remain on the runway. The nose gear contacted the soft ground beyond the runway surface and collapsed. The pilot and passengers exited the aircraft without injury.
