From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot privacy data omitted was flying a northeast course into a military operations area (moa) near vance air force base at 17,500 feet MSL when he called vance approach control for traffic advisories through the area at 1835 CDT. When he was identified and issued a transponder code, vance asked for the destination of the flight. The pilot privacy data omitted replied he would say only if it remained between him and the controller, who agreed, and the pilot privacy data omitted stated his destination was gph and mentioned a hostile takeover. After providing advisors through the moa, vance then called Kansas city air route traffic control center on the telephone and described the circumstances. Eventually a fighter escort was assigned to the flight. The pilot privacy data omitted did contact Kansas city radar approach control entering the Kansas city area for advisors and vectors to the airport at mosby, MO. He was met at the airport by law enforcement personnel and interviewed. An fbi spokesman stated that it was a misunderstanding and no real threat was posed. Incident privacy data omitted is closed with this report.
