From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot privacy data omitted lifted off in his home built helicycle at approximately 1130 MDT. This was his first flight after spending 3 years building the craft. He made 2 circles, never getting more than 100 yards from his lift-off point. As he completed his second circle he attempted to land at about his lift-off point. He lost control of the craft while attempting to land and crashed, destroying the helicycle and sending the pilot privacy data omitted to the hospital with minor injuries. The pilot privacy data omitted has agreed to voluntarily surrender his student pilot certificate.
