From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot was conducting a pleasure flight around the klnc airport for familiarization with the aircraft. The first landing was stated by the pilot as hard. A second flight was subsequently made. The pilot stated that the approach for landing required holding left rudder input due to a nose quartering crosswind and the airspeed was higher than required. A decision was made to go-around for another attempt. The pilot stated that the throttle/control configuration was an unfamiliar arrangement for her due to the throttle being on the left instrument panel and the flight control being in the center of the airframe between the seats. The pilot pushed forward on the flight control which nosed the aircraft towards the runway. The aircraft subsequently impacted the runway, ballooned into the air and upon touch down suffered a propeller strike and damage to the nose gear. The left wingtip received damage as well.

As the FAA filed it
