From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On July 15, 2007, at approximately 1230 CDT, the pilot of an experimental research and development aircraft, model proxy aviation systems Firefly, executed a landing on runway 10, at Midland International Airport. During rollout, shortly after touchdown, the nose landing gear strut broke and departed the aircraft. The aircraft sustained minor damage to the nose gear doors. There was no injury to the pilot, the sole occupant. Examination of the nose gear strut found corrosion on the inside of the strut due to a crack developing and eventually leading to overload failure due to landing stresses.
