From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On July 15, 2007, the pilot privacy data omitted attempted to land his navion, registered as N5436K, using runway 07 at mth. The pilot, privacy data omitted the PIC, with one occupant. The right main landing gear did not extend/lower during the approach to the airport. The PIC, privacy data omitted completed several attempts to operate the landing gear using normal, and emergency lowering procedure. During the approach to land at mth, the PIC completed several fly bys in the airport traffic pattern, including communication with ground personnel. The PIC also reported one additional aircraft flew past N5436K, to visually observe the landing gear position on N5436K. The aircraft touched down with approximately 3/4 runway remaining. The pilot privacy data omitted indicated the landing was smooth and straight down runway 07 at mth, and the aircraft slid off the runway to the right, resting approximately half off the runway with damage to the aircraft belly, and main landing gear (MLG) doors.
