From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot privacy data omitted was giving rides from his private grass strip to construction workers who were building his new home. The weather was in the 80'S fahrenheit with light winds and few clouds. He had flown four passengers successfully with no incident. During the fifth and final ride, the pilot privacy data omitted took off heading to the north and executed a 180 degree turn and flew back down the length of the runway at treetop level. At the end of the runway the engine failed and he made an approximately 30 degree turn when the aircraft descended quickly and struck the ground.
