From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) CFI privacy data omitted was giving dual instruction to commercially rated pilot privacy data omitted. They were practicing landings at the Talkeetna, AK airport. The pilot privacy data omitted was on the controls. During a landing attempt on runway 36, the aircraft was allowed to enter a high sink rate, low airspeed condition. Although CFI privacy data omitted prompted the pilot privacy data omitted to add power, the aircraft continued to sink and sustained a hard landing. The aircraft struck the VASI lights on the right side of the runway and was substantially damaged. Neither pilot was injured. The weather was VFR with light winds.
