From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) During takeoff to the south on a north/south oriented unimproved airstrip the pilot was unable to attain enough altitude to clear a corn crop at the southern end of the airstrip. The aircraft contacted the corn, traveled approximately 250 feet and subsequently struck terrain causing substantial damage to the aircraft. The pilot, the sole occupant, received no injuries. The pilot stated when he entered the aircraft the wind was calm. When he exited the aircraft after the accident he noted the wind was from the north at what he approximated was 10-12 miles per hour. This takeoff was the pilot's fourth of a planned five departures from this same airstrip for the purpose of aerial application.
