From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Saa 203 diverted from intended destination of jfk for planned alternate phl. Enroute to phl saa 203 advised ATC of minimum fuel with 6700 kilos of fuel (14,700 lbs). One minute after advising minimum fuel, ATC advised the flight that phl was now closed, and that although jfk was now open, the ILS was out of service. At this point, the crew declared an emergency, and was vectored for the ILS 22 at ewr, where an uneventful landing occurred with about 40 minutes of fuel remaining. The flight release provided by south african airways shows adequate fuel for the planned flight, holding, alternate and reserves. At 213 miles from jfk, 11,800 kilos (25960 lbs) of fuel remained, with 2700 kilos (5940 lbs) fuel required. The flight landed at ewr with 5750 kilos (12,650 lbs) of fuel remaining.
