From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot landed on private northeast sod runway (approx. centerline 045 degrees) at privacy data omitted due to the fact that the first third of the runway have numerous trees closely situated on either side of the runway, the pilot planned his approach to remain above the trees which resulted in a touch down on the runway approx. 1,000 feet beyond the approach end of the 2,000 foot runway. Pilot stated that after touchdown the brakes were not effectively stopping the aircraft and he elected to exit the side of the runway, into a soy bean field, to assist in stopping the aircraft. After entering the soy bean field, along the side of the runway, the aircraft tipped up on its nose and flipped over, coming to rest upside down. The pilot did not receive any injuries but the aircraft received damage to the wing tips, prop, wind shield and nose landing gear. No damage that qualified as an accident occurred. privacy data omitted

PILOT STATED THAT AFTER TOUCHDOWN THE BRAKES WERE NOT EFFECTIVELY STOPPING THE AIRCRAFT AND HE ELECTED TO EXIT THE SIDE OF THE RUNWAY, INTO A SOY BEAN FIELD, TO ASSIST IN STOPPING THE AIRCRAFT.
