From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On October 9, 2007 at approximately 0830 local time, N1024B, a cameron model Z-105 balloon, serial number 6371, made a hard landing in Rio Rancho, new Mexico. The balloon had a pilot and 4 passengers on board. While attempting to land, the basket struck the north side covering of an east facing second story porch of a house located at privacy data omitted, lifted over the house, drifted across iris road, the backyard of privacy data omitted, and a second backyard, then made a hard impact in a gulley approximately 1/4 mile southwest of intersection at iris and saratoga/contraras. According to witnesses, on impact the basket tipped forward (to the south) and ejected two passengers and while lying on its side with the three remaining occupants, the basket was dragged over the two ejected passengers. The balloon bounced onto the ground a second time and ejected another passenger. The balloon proceeded in a south-southwesterly direction where it knocked down the mail box at privacy data omitted, slid across concrete stone-like landscaping west of privacy data omitted, and impacted the north side of the house at privacy data omitted and dragged across its roof, damaging an evaporative cooler and came to rest south of the house.
