From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Flying west 10' off ground over island in columbia river, into the setting sun, much glare on water, did not see boat in sun glare. On climb out saw boat and banked 20 degrees right to avoid flying over. Aircraft stalled. Pushed nose over and seemed to recover somewhat. Continued climb. At approx 150' aircraft stalled and did not recover. Left wheel and wing tip hit water approximately 20' from shore. Aircraft flipped upside down. Pilot and pax exited aircraft and swam to island. Picked up by fisherman. No injuries, but wet and cold. Pilot stated he knew it was pilot error and should not have banked right when on edge of stall.
