From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On Sunday November 4, 2007, 1628 EST, a Beechcraft BE-200, s/n BB-1171, N786DD, operated by scott richard aviation services, inc., a CFR part 135 air carrier, experienced the main cabin door separating from the aircraft while in flight. The aircraft was enroute to the westchester, NY and diverted and landed on runway 34 at the Binghamton regional airport (kbgm). The pilot declared an emergency, and the crash fire rescue responded. The aircraft taxied to the ramp without incident. An airworthiness inspector from the rochester FSDO inspected the aircraft, and at this point has not been able to find any evidence of mechanical failure around the door frame. It was also verified that the door annunciate light buld did and does illuminate. An operations inspector, also of the rochester FSDO, interviewed the flight crew. During the interview, the crew also indicated that the first officer closed the door and that the door was properly latched prior to flight. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time and an IFR flight plan was filed. The aircraft received minor damage, and there were no injuries. The flight originated at the ithaca airport (kith) ithaca, new york on November 4, 2007, at approximately 1615 EST. This incident is considered closed.
