What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) During an instructional helicopter flight, which involved completing three (3) autorotations, the pilot depressed the pedal assembly while on the ground and felt and heard a loud "snapping" noise. Further examination revealed that the support bracket above and next to the right pedal assembly had broken. This condition caused the pedal assemblies to become inoperative thus creating a momentarily "jammed" situation. The manufacturer was notified of this condition and requested the failed part. However, the NTSB was also notified and requested the broken part be shipped to them first for further analysis.
