From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) VOR DME approach to runway 03 was initiated. Aircraft broke out at approximately 750' AGL and made a normal touchdown. Winds were 330 degrees at 5 knots. Runway was wet with no standing water. Pilot engaged nose wheel steering somewhere just below 60 knots indicated and the aircraft started into an abrupt left turn. Right rudder input had no effect. The aircraft slid sideways and completed a 180 degree turn on the runway before departing the left side of the runway collapsing the right main landing gear after sinking in soft mud. The aircraft sustained substantial damage to the right wing tip, right aileron sheared off, right engine prop destroyed, right main landing gear drag brace sheared, and considerable damage to the right side of fuselage and wheel well area. The aircraft right ventral fin was also sheared off. Investigation of the nose gear steering system, hydraulics, brakes, and rudder system by this inspector and piaggio america, ainc. Personnel found no anomaly.
