From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) During ILS approach rwy 8 lns, in icing conditions, aircraft impacted soft terrain in a landing attitude, approximately 175 feet short of rwy 8 threshold, near centerline. Impact separated left main and nose landing gears from aircraft. Aircraft slid onto rwy 8 pavement and came to rest 20 feet right of centerline, approximately 50 feet from rwy threshold. Fire/rescue personnel responded and observed aircraft with ice completely obscuring windshield, upon arrival at scene. Pilot stated during interview, he used airframe deice systems during flight to remove light rime ice. Aircraft was not equipped with windshield ice protection device. Pilot stated that obscured windshield was a factor in maintaining control of aircraft. Aircraft sustained substantial damage to forward fuselage, nacelles, propellers, landing gear, and wings.
