From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On December 24, 2007, the pilot privacy data omitted and CFI privacy data omitted were engaged in an insurance check out flight for the pilot privacy data omitted in Piper PA-20 N7007K s/n 112. The pilot privacy data omitted was in control of the aircraft, upon touch down the aircraft bounced, the pilot applied a small amount of power. The aircraft started to veer right. The CFI instructed the pilot to remove power, which he complied with. The CFI instructed the pilot to add left rudder and hold full up elevator. The pilot did not comply so the CFI took the controls. He applied rudder and full up elevator but ran out of authority. He instructed the pilot to apply left brake, the pilot did not comply (the instructor stated there were only brakes on the left side of the aircraft). The CFI instructed again to apply left brake. At that point they were off the right side of the runway and stopped. After contacting ground they were able to taxi to the hangar. There was damage to the left wing bow area.
