From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) During landing the pilot stated he was a bit fast and upon touchdown on RWY09 he hit hard and began to porpoise until at some point the nose wheel broke off. The nose settled onto the rwy and the aircraft skidded on the nose strut until the aircraft came to a stop. At the scene it was not possible to remove the engine cowling to inspect for possible firewall damage. The aircraft will be dismantled and taken to boise, id for repairs. At present it appears to be minor damage but if further inspection in boise indicates structural damage this will be upgraded to an accident and an amendment filed. (-23 amendment) subsequent inspection of the aircraft discovered substantial structural damage to the firewall and other structures in the engine compartment which were not accessible at the scene of the accident.

As the FAA filed it
