From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On March 1,2008, a velocity xl (rg) operated by ulrich christen landed on runway 15 within a formation flight of RV-8 aircraft. During landing the aircraft appeared to have traveled parallel on and off the runway and ended up traveling through the grass into cross over taxiway and R33, and then impacting one of the RV-8'S on the taxiway. Witnesses state the aircraft was traveling at a high rate of speed with a high left wing angle during impact, amateur video depicts a similar view. It appears to be loss of control. After impact the aircaft exploded, traveled approximately 400 ft landed upside down and was consumed by fire.
