The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) Airman stated he was established downwind for runway 19, at 7D9, when the propeller went into an overspeed condition which airman had no control over. Propeller went into flat pitch and airman initiated an off field landing. Examination of the controllable pitch propeller revealed that a jack screw pin had sheared allowing the prop to go to a flat pitch setting. One of the phenolic blade pitch stops also failed resulting in the blade going into reverse pitch position.
