From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On April 10, 2008 Beechcraft N300FL, piloted by privacy data omitted returned to the Taylor TX airport after maintenance was performed on the airplane. On takeoff, the pilot heard a loud noise and radioed the maintenance tech privacy data omitted to inform him that he was returning. The engines were still operating, when privacy data omitted approached the airplane and opened the main cabin door. The pilot or the maintenance tech did not realize that the cabin was still pressurized. When the door handle was turned to the open position, privacy data omitted was standing under it, and the door flew out striking him in the head causing blunt trauma, and later, fatal injury.
