From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The PIC of N96RW (Hurricane) had landed on rwy 17 at gls. The pilot was on rollout with the tail down o the rightside of the runway. After landing the PIC of N96RW was continuing to the end of the runway at about 15 knots. There was a 4 knot crosswind from the left and the pilot was using right brake/rudder to control the left turning tendency of the aircraft. The pilot added power to continue his taxi to the end of the runway and when he did the aircraft veered left, ground looped and was on the left side of the runway. During the ground loop neither wing hit the ground. After completing about 260 degrees of a turn in the ground loop, the aircraft was sstruck from behind by the PIC of N308WK (spitfire) which was on rollout on the left side of the runway. The PIC of 308WK was not able to see the Hurricane because of the desigh of the aircraft.

As the FAA filed it
