From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23)At approximately 1715 on may 2, 2008 the pilot of an RV-7A, N269SD was practicing touch and goes at Frazier lake airstrip (1C9), near Hollister, CA when upon takeoff his left wing leading edge impacted a large goose. Apparently the goose had just taken off from the ground at the end of the airstrip at the same time as the aircraft. After impact the aircraft yawed and banked to the left. The pilot tried to straighten out the aircraft but was not successful, the left wingtip struck the ground then nosed over and cartwheeled approximatley 200 feet and landed upright. The aircraft sustained damage and the passenger sustained minor injury.
