From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) After landing ipxa flight 751 was cleared to taxi to ramp 6 spot 8 at ksdf. Upon arrival at the entrance to ramp 6 a ground marshaller was observed in the vicinity of spot 8. The aircraft was directed by the marshaller to approach the parking spot on a path nearly parallel to the blast fence in anticipation of a final right turn into the parking spot. As the aircraft proceeded parallel to the blast fence, the marshaller was directing the aircraft inside the normal taxi reference line. The captain, being concerned, attempted to maneuver farther away from the fence. However, the marshaller continued to direct a line that would bring the aircraft closer to the fence. The captain stated "due to the distance, angle and ramp lighting involved, it was difficult to judge wingtip clearance. He determined that the clearance was minimal but adequate". As the aircraft was directed by the marshaller to make a right turn into the final parking position, an impact was felt and the aircraft was immediately stopped. The left wingtip had impacted one of the ramp lighting poles approximately 18 inches inside of the left wingtip. Damage to aircraft was inspected by FAA personnel a the scene following the incident.

As the FAA filed it
