From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On 6/01/2008 a PA-28-140 with a student pilot at the controls made a landing on rwy 30 at Shafter (mit) field at approx 11:00 PDT. The pilot states that upon his roll-out the nose collapsed, the aircraft veered to the left, the nose gear dug in the infield an the propellor struck the ground under idle power. Upon further on-site inspection by a/w inspectors, the incident has been upgraded to an 'accident' due to firewall bending and engine mount cracks. According to the a/w inspectors the aircraft skidded off the runway at a high rate of speed even though the nose gear had already failed.
