From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On 06/08/2008 at Great barrington airport, Massachusetts, at approximately 18.45 local, the pilot in command of aircraft N337JJ landed hard and short of runway 11. Both left and right main landing gear assemblies were sheared off upon impact, and the aircraft slid down the runway approximately 1000 ft from the threshold coming to a stop 40 yards to the left of runway 11. There were no reported injuries and the pilot's son was the only passenger onboard. The aircraft, a multi-engine Cessna T337G, serial no. P3370026, sustained damage to the rear engine propeller blades, left wing aileron and flap assemblies, bending of the left hand wing 3/4 secton from the wing root, shearing of the left and right main landing gear at the shear points, and damage to the left and right vertical stabilizer end caps. During the acdident investigation, the pilot stated that after a local flight of approximately 40 minutes, during final approach to runway 11 under zero wind conditions, the aircraft encountered a high sink rate, and that he was not able to arrest the sink rate by applying full power to both engines.
