From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) At 9:00 pm PDT the PIC of N1018S and one passenger departed runway 1 from kszt for a short local flight. The weather was clear and winds calm. Upon returning to kszt at 9:30 pm PDT and landing the pilot decided to do a few touch and goes with taxied back to runway 1. On his second touch and go at approximately rotation speed 60-70 a deer appeared from the right and struck the right wing veering the aircraft 45 degrees to the right. The pilot felt like the aircraft was floating or entered ground effect for a short time maybe 15 feet and then settled back to the ground. The aircraft departed to runway to the right between the runway and taxiway. The pilot attempted to maintain directional control with rudders but was unable to do so. The aircraft continued to the right crossing the taxiway and then impacting the eastside airport fence. The right wing struck the fence first spinning the aircraft to the right. The propeller then struck the chain link fence followed by the left wing impacting a fence post causing the left wing, left fuel tank and fuselage to tear open. The aircraft sustained substantial damage. There was no post crash fire. The aircraft came to rest and the pilot and passenger exited the aircraft.
