From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The aircraft lost all of the engine oil and ceased during flight. The oil pressure drop was brought to the attention of the pilot by the non-pilot onboard 30 minutes prior to engine stoppage. Pilot responded that it was an old plane and that the gauges sometimes are a little off or don't work quite right. The mechanic stated he installed a new vacuum pump provided by flying viking inc the owner before this flight. He stated he tightened all the bolts and torqued them except one nut on the bottom of the pump he could not reach. He stated he used a screwdriver and hammer to tighten the nut. The engine oil was lost at the vacuum pump seal indicated by the fresh oil.
