From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot of N23764, a challenger ii light sport aircraft, operating from his private airstrip residence, conducted a takeoff maneuver and climbed to approximately 100 to 150 feet above the ground when he noted that the aircraft would not continue a climb. The pilot elected to return to land at his residence because he thought that the engine was not producing full power. As he maneuvered to land his aircraft he determined that he could not make it back to his airstrip given the performance of the aircraft, so he elected to land in his neighbors yard. As a result, the aircraft sustained substantial damage to the wing tips and nose gear assembly when the aircraft contacted the ground and slid into a tree and thereafter, into his neighbors house. No injuries were sustained to the pilot and sole occupant of the aircraft nor to the neighbors occupying the house at the time of the event. This report is being submitted to close out accident number privacy data omitted.

As the FAA filed it

THIS REPORT IS BEING SUBMITTED TO CLOSE OUT ACCIDENT NUMBER ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.
