From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot reports that he had operated the aircraft from mmv to 7OR8 under VMC with no events. Weather was good at 70R8 at the time of arrival with winds at 310 degrees at 10 knots, gusting to 16 knots, altimeter at 30.14 inches. OAT unknown. Density altitude estimated at 6500 ft. airport conditions were obtained from AWOS at kgddc (020 degrees at 23 NM). Runway heading: 18/36. Runway elevation: 4560 ft. runway dimensions: 3200 by 70 ft, gravel. Pilot reports that he was instructed (by person on the ground) to approach and land on runway 18. Pilot attempted first landing and decided airspeed was too high (100 knots) and aborted approach. Pilot circled airport using left traffic pattern and approached (again to the south) at 70 knots with full flaps. Aircraft touched down left of center-line (distance unknown). Aircraft touched down on right main, then left main. Aircraft drifted to the left of the runway and struck two 9FIRST 2 inch, second 4 inch) juniper trees. The aircraft then struck a "bank", folded the nose gear back, and came to rest on the left side of the runway. Pilot secured and evacuated the aircraft with no injuries. Aircraft remains at 7OR8 pending disassembly and return to portland area. Pilot reports that he was not aware of 49 cft, part 830.5 and as a result, approximately 18 days elapsed before the FAA was advised of the apparent accident.
