From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) Agricultural aircraft crashed after attempting to depart a 3500 foot private landing area two miles south of Kilbourne, IL. On take-off, the aircraft became airborne as it struck a shallow ditch between the runway and highway. The aircraft then became airbourne, struck a small oak tree, and power lines which slowed the aircraft enough to cause it to crash in a corn field some 150 yards from the departure end of the runway. The pilot sustained minor injuries and was treated for chemical contamination.
