From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On July 18, 2008 at approximately 2300 gmt, N7832, a Grumman G-164A departed a private airstrip near Bovina, Texas conducting aerial agricultural application under title 14 CFR part 137 over a field 12 miles southeast of Bovina, Texas. Following a downwind turn the aircraft began descend. The pilot stated he applied full power and heard the engine accelerate. The pilot executed an emergency dump of chemicals but the aircraft continued to descend until it impacted the ground. When the inspector arrived the aircraft had been moved to the private airstrip. No fuel was on board the aircraft. The pilot stated they drained about 50 gallons before they transported the aircraft. One blade of the propeller was bent aft and the other did not sustain damage. The damage to the propeller was indicative of an engine not producing power. No injuries were sustained by the pilot.
