(-23) Aircraft landed gear up martha's Vineyard, MA runway 24 at 1357 EDT, 7/27/2008 and slide off the right side of runway. No reports of injuries. Aircraft damage was minor. Pilot stated he was coming from pym and at about 6-7 miles out he called the tower and put his gear down. He stated he touched down on runway 24 and the airacraft felt wobbly, like a cross wind, and then settled on its belly and skidded off the right side of the runway. He claimed he did not land on the nose and that he did have three green down and lock indicators. He claimed the aircraft is not equipped with a gear warning horn but assured us that the gear was in the down and locked position. The evidence on the runway shows that the nose gear was partially down and that it created a rubber skid mark flanked on both sides by scrap marks measuring the same distance as the damgaged inboard flap hinges. When the nose tire skidded off the right side of runway 24 and contacted the grass it now appeared as though the nose gear retracted into the nose wheel well and the keel beam left a gouge in between the left and right inboard flap hinge gouges. The airport manager stated as soon as the aircraft was jacked the gear dropped out of the well and appeared to be in the down and locked position. I inspected the gear and found no damage to the drag links, the main gear doors, the tires, wheels or the hub caps. There weren't any grass stains, scrapes or scratches. The drag links appeared over center and no evidence of damage to the structure. The engine showed evidence of having been under a lot of power at the time it impacted the runway. privacy data omitted Has mulitple incidents of gear up landings in navion aircraft. Three in katama, one in Florida and two in mvy.
