From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Prior to departing the holly springs airport (M41) the pilot flew the aircraft for 15 minutes to check for any leaks on a recently installed factory new engine installed by the repair station. No leaks or abnormalities found and the pilot departed the holly springs airport (M41) enroute to madison, MS (mbo). During the level off the throttle was reduced to a cruise setting and the engine went immediately to idle and lost power. Pilot was unable to regain any power other than idle and landed the aircraft in a soy bean field northwest of the Oxford (uox) airport. After the aircraft was recovered the engine area was inspected at the run up facility and during this inspection the "b" nut that connects the fuel line to the fuel servo was loose and required 7 flat turns to tighten. Engine run at facility satisfactory with no abnormalities noted. While engine was running this "b" nut fuel line was loosened as it was found and the engine immediately stopped.

As the FAA filed it
