From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The non PIC pilot manipulating the controls from the aft seat was landing the stearman in the grass adjacent to runway 34. The non PIC pilot admitted the aircraft hit the ground hard. The impact broke the left main gear strut off. The aircraft's left lower wing then contacted the ground breaking the spar as the aircraft skidded to the left. The propeller contacted the ground bending both blades aft and right gear was bent outward and aft. The aircraft came to rest on the paved taxiway.
