From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) During approach on final leg, witnesses state the aircraft slowly turned right, 90 degrees to the runway heading, flew across California highway 101 descending. The aircraft struck the California highway patrol truck scales, mostly level, with the right wing and nose slightly down. Three propeller strikes were found indicating the engine was under power. The center fuselage impacted in lane 2, of a 3 lane scale, and bounced shallowly into the building. The engine and aircraft impacted the building about 6 feet above the ground approximately 30 feet from the initial impact. The aircraft caught fire, all but the tail section and right hand flap was destroyed by post impact fire.
