From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Inspector's statement:privacy data omitted. I interviewed the capt. privacy data omitted He stated that when he disconnected the yaw damper on short final in ground effect, he experienced a severe yaw to the right which resulted in the right wing tip contacting the runway. He applied full left aileron and rudder to correct the yaw resulting in the left wing tip contacting the runway. He saw that the yaw cycles were becoming larger so he elected to apply full power and go around. Published procedures for the Lear 25 call for the yaw damper to be disconnected on short final. Disconnecting the yaw damper at that late stage in the landing procedure does not assure a stabilized flight path. I believe that the procedure should be modified to call for disengagement of the yaw damper at the outer marker of final approach fix consistent with stabilized approach concepts.

As the FAA filed it

(-23) INSPECTOR'S STATEMENT:^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^. I INTERVIEWED THE CAPT. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ HE STATED THAT WHEN HE DISCONNECTED THE YAW DAMPER ON SHORT FINAL IN GROUND EFFECT, HE EXPERIENCED A SEVERE YAW TO THE RIGHT WHICH RESULTED IN THE RIGHT WING TIP CONTACTING THE RUNWAY.
