From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On September 13, 2008 privacy data omitted took off from Steamboat Springs airport (sbs). He says that he did not get his gear up and locked light after takeoff. He performed press to test of the light bulb and it appears to have burned out. He says that he still could not positively see the nose gear door closed. He then "executed a practice VFR GPS approach to the airport with gear and flaps down". He made a low approach over the ramp for the ground crew to check that the nose gear door was closed. They confirmed that it was closed. The pilot then circled to land; neglecting to lower his gear and executed a gear up landing.
