From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) At 1515 local time on September 27, 2007 on runway 23L at ind (Indianapolis International Airport), delta airlines, designator dala, experienced an aborted takeoff prior to speeds indicating V1, due to shudder, explained by the pilot in command, similar to a blown tire. Airport crash fire and rescue (CFR) was dispatched to extinguish what was thought to be an engine fire on the left hand or #1 engine. Upon gaining access to the engine, it was discovered that there was no fire present. Passengers exited the aircraft through the aft stairwell and boarded a bus to the terminal. Upon closer examination from the left hand engine tailpipe, it was noted that the last stage of turbine blades were missing from the engine and there was damage to the remaining blades. In addition, it was noted that the stator prior to the last stage was also missing. CFR removed the debris from the runway.
