From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

After leveling at 4000 MSL the pilot reported a mayday call to desmoines ATCT because flames were coming from the rear of the engine cowl. The engine lost power and the pilot completed an emergency landing on a highway four miles north of the Winterset, IA airport (3Y3). There were no injuries to the pilot on board or persons on the ground. No damage to the aircraft or property on the ground. Investigation of the aircraft indicated a failure of the turbine compressor section of the engine which lead to the loss of engine power.
