From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Aircraft was being taxied from flight line to wash rack when it struck a parked aircraft (C-123) with the left wing causing damage to the leading edge of the Cessna wing approximately 4 to 5 inches in from wingtip. The pilot taxiing the aircraft states there were additional aircraft parked opposite the C-123. His concentration was divided by trying to miss the parked aircraft with the right hand wing of the aircraft and the C-123 which was struck with the left wing. He states he miss judged the clearance area on the left hand side of the aircraft. The owner of the flight school which owns the ramp area being used to transit to the wash rack states that all employees are advised of the aircraft, a C-123 which is protruding from between two shade hangers. This aircraft has been stored in this spot for several years. This aircraft had the wings detached and is stored in between the hangers with the tail positioned against a fence running along the back side of the hangers. Becaused of the length of the aircraft the nose section sticks out into the taxiway area. There are taxi lines on the ramp to follow, but the C-123 nose protrudes into the taxiway area. The owner of the ramp has been advised to work with the Tucson airport authority to be allowed to move taxiway line or to move aircraft to area which will not be in conflict with moving aircraft. Owner has relocated aircraft parked across from stored aircraft in the interim.

As the FAA filed it
