From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23)The pilot and one passenger departed Chandler airport in the light sport aircraft, model tl sting 2000. Shortly after leaving the pattern the pilot noticed a steady increase in the coolant temperature as well as a decrease in oil pressure. The pilot asked the control tower for an immediate return to the airport, which he was granted. The pilot did not declare an emergency. He made a normal approach to the active runway. Upon landing the pilot stated that he was too fast and tried to force the airplane on the ground, causing it swerve off the runway thereby breaking off the right main gear leg at the wheel axle and collapsing the nose gear. Because of the collapse of the nose gear and right main gear, the outer bottom of the right wing scraped the ground and the propeller contacted the ground. Neither the pilot or the passenger suffered injury.

As the FAA filed it
