Pilot was being vectored for the ILS runway 3 approach at kcho. When the aircraft was approximately 12 miles to the southwest of kcho the pilot radioed a mayday. The investigation appears to focus on the horizontal stabilator departing the aircraft in flight.

PILOT WAS BEING VECTORED FOR THE ILS RUNWAY 3 APPROACH AT KCHO. WHEN THE AIRCRAFT WAS APPROXIMATELY 12 MILES TO THE SOUTHWEST OF KCHO THE PILOT RADIOED A MAYDAY. THE INVESTIGATION APPEARS TO FOCUS ON THE HORIZONTAL STABILATOR DEPARTING THE AIRCRAFT IN FLIGHT.
