From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) While trimming trees on a east to west heading along the allegheny power right of way located in Carroll township Pennsylvania, aircraft N606AS lost power from an altitude of approximately 120 ft. the helicopter made a left 360 degree turn and crashed into the trees north of the right of way. The helicopter impacted the ground on a wooded hillside, sustaining substantial damage. The main rotor blades were severely coned and the tail boom was bent with a large wrinkle immediately aft of the station 197.2 aircraft attachment point. The engine assembly was broken from its mountings. The skids collapsed, the wind screen was cracked, and the pilot tail rotor pedals were displaced forward out through the left hand chin bubble. The saw mounting frame impaled through the belly of the aircraft, buckling the cabin floor, puncturing both fuel tanks. The long line attached to the saw assembly was found contorted at an 180 degree arc and intermingled amongst the trees and brush, under extreme tension. Pilot received back and neck injuries in crash and was flown to a local trauma hospital.
