From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Tvc ATCT manager reported that pilot had reported icing in clouds and requested diversion into tvc, while shooting the ILS 28 at tvc, pilot stated that he was receiving glide slope indications but not localizer indications. Weather was reported as 3/4 mi during approach and pilot missed approach, the pilot sighted the ground sometime during the missed approach procedure and would not climb back to a safe IFR altitude, preferring to maintain ground contact. The aircraft was tracked on radar flying to the north east of the tvc airport approximately 10 miles and then continuing in a generally southeasterly direction until in the vicinity of Kalkaska Michigan 20 miles east of the tvc airport. Several witnesses at that location reported the aircraft flying around at tree top level in very poor visibility before striking trees and a mobile home.
