From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

At approximately 10:34 HST, N6182J departed honolulu international airport on a circle-island flight. Approximately 14 NM northwest of Kalaeloa airport (jrf) the fuel selector was switched from left to right tank. Following the first touch and go landing, the engine would not produce full power. Pilot reported, “low power” to the tower controller, then made a left bank in an attempt to land on coral sea road. As the aircraft descended into brush, the right wing impacted a tree. The left wing impacted a powerline and detached from the fuselage. The left wing was found approximately 76 feet from the rest of the wreckage. Pilot and passengers sustained serious injuries.
