From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On December 30, 2008 at 1545 hours PST N2006S a 1983 Taylorcraft F-21A received minor damage as a result of landing in the salmon river near Whitebird, Idaho. The commercial pilot received minor injuries as a result of the incident, but was forced into an overnight survival situation due to the remote location of the incident. During an interview the pilot stated the engine hesitated as he rapidly applied power to land on this small rocky island until the gear hit the water and then regained full power. An examination of the aircraft cannot verify any mechanical malfunction of the engine. This aircraft was equipped with 26 inch Alaska tundra tires and an oversized tail wheel for off airport operations. The aircraft’s damage was limited to the prop and the engine cowling as a result of landing in the river. After nine days in the river prior to retrieval with a helicopter, the aircraft received substantial damage. No flight plan or weather data was obtained by the commercial pilot prior to the flight.
